About Red Dune Camp
A family story rooted in the red sands of the Kalahari, where the love for this land is shared with every guest.
Our Story
Red Dune Camp sits on Farm Rooikop — a working Kalahari farm that has been in the Kruger family for three generations. What started as a simple idea to share the beauty of this place with friends has grown into a carefully curated camping experience.
Johan's grandfather first settled this land in the 1950s, drawn by the endless horizons and the deep red sand that gives the farm its name. Over the decades, the family learned to read the desert — its seasons, its wildlife, its moods.
We believe camping should be an experience, not just accommodation. Each of our four campsites has been chosen for something special — a view, a feeling, a connection to the land. We keep things simple but comfortable, because the Kalahari itself is the attraction.
